new arrivals

  • It’s been a busy week here at Dissonant Plane!  Rob Zverina has made some stunning progrees on the physical aspects of the store
  • Also, we’ve gotten in a great selection of Stuart Dempster titles, including the brand new Deep Listening Band double LP Then & Now Now & Then: Celebrating 20 Years released by Taiga.  Pressed on 200 gram green vinyl, and in a lovely full color slip cover, it is a beaut!
  • In addition, we got a few stellar CD reissues from Tiliqua Records in Japan by Masayuki Takayangi & New Directions, Joakim Skogsberg, and Akira Ishikawa & Count Buffalo - the last of which we seem to have gotten some of the last copies from the label.  All three of these titles are reissues of horribly rare and desirable LPs from the early 1970’s, and the CDs reissues themselves are quickly disappearing and becoming collectable as well.
  • Last, we have some of the last copies of Bixobal #5 featuring Rob Millis of Climax Golden Twins talking about 78s, Dave Nuss of N0-Neck Blues Band talking about the Source Family and Yahowa 13, Onde, Aaron Gorseth on the late Michael Griffen of Noggin, early Vancouver noise group Tunnel Canary, Hisham Mayet’s Assophon Records, and more.  At only $2.00, it is one heck of deal.  Also from the same label, Ri Be Xibalba, we have the “…and Shiva Came for Charlie” compilation LP. Normally available only via mail order, this LP is being sold in only two shops in the entire world: Wall of Sound and Dissonant Plane.  Dedicated to the late Charles Gocher of Sun City Girls, who spent his final days in Ballard, the LP features solo tracks by all three members of Sun City Girls, plus tracks by Climax Golden Twins, Factums, Dave Knott, Spider Trio (feat. Wally Shoup), Wizard Prison (feat. Scott Colburn), Sea Donkeys, Katharina Tunicata, and more.

Well, we are almost there.  The walls, ceiling and floor are painted, the CD shelves are moved in along with a glass case and a lot of CDs.  We still need to finish off the counter and build record bins and still looking a little raw, but we are ready to sell discs now!  In addition to the wonderful work being done by Robert ZverinaMarshall Bialas has been a huge help, and I would like to thank Carl Lierman for the use of his pick up truck to move a few really big boards.  Still lots to do and get in stock, but we are off to a great start.
